IU South Bend Summer Healthcare Exploration Program

The IU South Bend Summer Healthcare Exploration Program offers high school students an in-depth look at a wide range of medical careers beyond the well-known positions of doctors and nurses. This week-long residential camp provides participants with a unique opportunity to explore lesser-known roles within healthcare through hands-on activities and real-world simulations.

Students follow the medical case of a patient through multiple specialties, including nursing, radiography, and occupational therapy, gaining firsthand knowledge of the diagnostic and treatment processes. The camp welcomes students to stay on campus in dormitories, fostering a collegiate environment while imparting knowledge about college preparation, scholarships, and strategies for academic success.

By highlighting the diverse opportunities in healthcare and emphasizing the importance of higher education, the program helps students identify their interests and equips them with foundational skills to pursue rewarding healthcare careers in the future.
